Quicksilver (Rambert Youth Dance) & Shoreditch Youth Dance and Smikle Dance Project

A double bill presented by Quicksilver & Shoreditch Youth Dance and Smikle Dance Project

Quicksilver are Rambert’s youth dance company. The pieces performed are inspired by the vast repertoire of Rambert, whilst showcasing the talent and versatility of Quicksilver’s young dancers (aged 16-19), who meet weekly to develop contemporary dance technique, work choreographically and participate in performances across the UK.

Shoreditch Youth Dance (SYD) and Smikle Dance Project present a new dance theatre production based on the classic fairy tale Hansel & Gretel. An inventive fusion of contemporary dance, music and theatre, SYD Company have weaved a fun and dark narrative for all audiences to enjoy.

Quicksilver is Rambert’s youth dance company. The company meet once a week and are led by their Artistic Director Laura Harvey to develop existing contemporary dance technique, work choreographically and participate in performance opportunities. Previous performances include Move It, National Theatre River Stage, Waterloo Festival, Big Dance and most recently a curtain raiser for Rambert at New Victoria Theatre, Woking.

Shoreditch Youth Dance (SYD) is an independent contemporary and creative dance company which brings together and supports talented young dancers in the early stages of their training through to their professional careers. Directed by Lee Smikle, the Company have taken part in a number of dance platforms and performances in the UK and Internationally including STOFF (Stockholm) and most recently the Brighton Fringe Festival.
