A pawn shop. Her Myspace. That statue of St. Wenceslas riding a dead horse. Your ex’s dirty sweatshirt. The quilt. Sonny and Cher’s ‘I Got You’ record, 1965. We dedicate this show to the memory of a woman we once knew… A part-gig theatre, part-funeral, part-existential meditation and fully absurd show asking why do we choose to remember? To forget? And how do we remember what we once had?
Tacky Pioneer is an emerging London-based collective of theatremakers hailing from China, England, and the USA who met while studying on the MA Advanced Theatre Practice course at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Their work explores the clash between pathos and absurdity, balancing the intellectual and the physical, the epic and the mundane. Their inaugural production Astronaut Battery premiered in September 2017 at the Chelsea Theatre.
