Creative Youth organises and delivers Kingston’s International Youth Arts Festival, (IYAF), and manages their volunteer scheme.
Without volunteers Creative Youth nor IYAF, could exist. Over the last six years our volunteering programme has developed significantly. We now have a core team of 50 volunteers, increasing to more than 160 during the International Youth Arts Festival period. The majority of our current volunteers had almost no experience of the Arts when they began and, for many, it has been a life-changing experience. Volunteers are required to carry out a number of roles both throughout the year and especially during the Festival.
As a Creative Youth Volunteer you will receive training/mentoring as required and be part of the Nationally Recognised vInspired awards scheme. A multitude of opportunities on our vInspired-accredited projects will count towards achieving number of certificates.
Being a Creative Youth volunteer has many benefits:
1. Increase your skills
2. Enhance your CV
3. Try out new things
4. Meet new people
But most importantly the best thing about being a Creative Youth volunteer is having fun!
How much time will I need to give?:– The hours individuals are required depend on the role and event they are supporting, and the time an individual can afford to give.
Are there restrictions on who can perform these roles (e.g. mobility, age, etc): We are fully inclusive. Most of our venues and our office have full access. Volunteers must be a minimum of 13 years of age.
